1.Is the X-ray of the spine necessary for the treatment?

The X-ray examination of or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is necessary for the complete diagnosis of the state of the spine.

2. Shouldn’t the pain killer medication be taken, instead of vertebrae adjustment treatment?

Definitely not. taking pain killers will not eliminate the injuries and dysfunctions of the skeleton (the peripheral and the intervertebral joints). It only reduces pain for a short time.

3. How soon after the repositioning (the release of the intervertebral joint) will I be able to carry things, or to lift a baby, to bend and to do some cleaning around the house?

Any lifting, bending and sudden movements are not allowed directly after the treatment, as the illness can return. It has to be understood, that even though the treatment had alleviated the pain, it does not mean, that we ate 100% healthy. The longer lasted the illness, the more time will be needed for the recovery. Articular capsules and ligament housings are not soft tissues, and they change very slowly, gradually returning to the state of physiological efficiency. Directly after the treatment, until the intervertebral joints do not return to their anatomical position, every sudden movement can bring the patient back to the state from before the treatment. Quite often the patient does not have the chance to comply with recommendations of the therapist (due to his professional of family obligations). The patient tries to cheat the illness and himself. The illness will not understand such attitude. And the loving grandmother, feeling better after the treatment and lifting the infant can thwart the effects of the therapy. The illness might return immediately after the strain (in form of a lumbago attack or a sudden onset of sharp pain) or even after a week.

4. Will the physiotherapy be enough to relieve back pain?

The spine is one of the elements of the motor system, and when the mechanical injury occurs, the irradiation, iontophoresis and massages might not be enough to cure the patient, e.g. such treatment might not restore the correct infrastructure. Physiotherapy is often helpful in reducing muscle strain and muscle pain, but it will not eliminate the injury.

5. Can you exercise after the spinal alignment treatment?

It depends on the type of the injury and the actual injured place, the patient’s age and many other factors. But generally it is not advisable, as such actions can bring back the illness. It might even result in worsening the state of the spine and in severe pain. The best exercise is swimming and aqua aerobic. All exercises shall only be done under the guidance of the rehabilitation therapists, and should not be started until 2-3 weeks after the treatment.

6. Is the massage necessary before or after the treatment?

The massage is necessary before the treatment and before the manual therapy. The aim of the massage is to affect the motor system (muscles, tendons, articular capsules, periosteum and bones), skin and connective tissue, fatty tissue, the nerve endings and the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems. Indirectly the massage affects also the internal organs. The massage of the paravertabral muscles stimulates the receptors, which are then transferred and a stimuli travels through the centripetal nerve fibres to the brain. The massage relaxes the muscles and the entire body. It also improves the blood circulation and speeds up the healing of the inflammations.
